Which Movie or TV Character Would You Date?

When it comes to ideal mates, it’s easy to get caught up in the pretty people on screen. After all, who can be satisfied with Mr. Darcy on the page when you can watch him right in front of you, swelling violins and all? For me, my ideal fictional mate was always a cross between Han Solo (the cocky bantering) and Mr. Knightley (played by Jeremy Northam) from Emma (I literally wanted to transcribe his proposal and hand it to my husband-to-be, saying “Read this. Don’t even come up with your own.”). Now, if I just wanted to pick a fictional date (not a mate), one of those flings you know won’t last, I would easily pick Jack Foley from Out of Sight. Or Doug Ross from ER. (Or maybe just anybody played by George Clooney).

I polled around our staff and blog contributors which fictional character they’d like to date. Here are their responses:
From TV

Henry01
Charles Brandon
(played by Henry Cavill) from The Tudors.
While Charles’ predisposition to infidelity could be a problem, his unbelievable good looks and charm might make up for it. If anything, I would just stare at him all day.

Jonathanrhysmeyers Henry VIII (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers) from The Tudors because a) I enjoy traveling to France, b) I think food shaped like other food (ex: a pie shaped like a swan) is romantic, and c) I know I could change him.

Speedman
Ben Covington
(played by Scott Speedman) from Felicity. I HEART him on an insane level. He’s one of those boys. And I am so naming my future dog after him.

Chuck
Chuck
(played by Zachary Levi) from Chuck. He’s a total hottie geek who doesn’t realize how sexy he is. And in real life he’s not too bad either. (Hopefully this post will get him to call me again on Valentine’s Day.)

Chuckgirl
Sarah
(played by Yvonne Strahovski) from Chuck. Not only is she beautiful, but she wouldn’t let any bully push me around.

Theoffice
Jim Halpert
(played by John Krasinski) from The Office. I would pick up, and move to Scranton, PA, if I could be his Pam for the day and help him mess with Dwight… by sending him faxes…from himself…from the future.

Leepace
Ned
the pie maker (played by Lee Pace) from Pushing Daisies. The eyes, the smile, the heartbreaking decision not to touch anyone — they all conspire to make me want to tackle him.

Jensenackles
Dean Winchester
(played by Jensen Ackles) from Supernatural. He’s extremely good-looking and has a wicked smile; fights evil every day (and the occasional ’scary’ silky terrier or suicidal talking teddy bear), has a soft side–he’ll protect the ones he loves to the death, literally; has a great sarcastic wit, and most importantly, looks really good with his shirt off.

Jasonbateman
Michael Bluth (played by Jason Bateman) from Arrested Development. He has a level of protectiveness, very tolerant, and again nerdy… but with some edge.

Grace_park_01
Lt. Sharon ‘Athena’ Agathon
(played by Grace Park) from Battlestar Galactica. Because she is a HOT cylon, and she has thousands of hot Cylon twins. Yowsa!

Boreanaz

Seely Booth (played by David Boreanaz) from Bones. He has a sense of humor, and a gun.  He can protect me, but doesn’t take himself too seriously. And he’s not so bad to look at either!

Stephenmoyer
Vampire Bill
(played by Stephen Moyer) from True Blood for his icy pallor, high cheekbones, and sexy accent.  I’d tell him, “You can bite my neck anytime!”

Draper
Don Draper
(played by Jon Hamm) from Mad Men. The man in the gray flannel suit; you are a complex man, Don Draper. Dashing, drop-dead gorgeous and oh-so-mysterious. You make me want to wear heels all the time.

From Film

Balene_1
Jack ‘Cowboy’ Kelly
(played by Christian Bale) from Newsies. His solo scene when he sings “Santa Fe” makes me melt. Why didn’t he use his musical talents in Batman?

MV5BMTk5MjY1MTA2N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwODg1MjU3._V1._SX266_SY400_
Mystique
(played by Rebecca Romijn) from X-Men. I would want to date her because I struggle being attentive. I think dating someone who can constantly shift shapes would be a brilliant solution.

So in honor of Valentine’s Day, which film or TV character would you date?

  2. Ian Henderson Says:

i love David Boreanaz in the TV Series bones, he is really a great actor.~,,

  3. Lowa Says:

My heart belongs to Jim Halpert– love that he’s on your list. I also have a thing for Peter Griffin. I love dark hair and glasses. Okay, he could lose a few pounds, but the guy is definitely not boring. Since it’s impossible for me to date a cartoon guy, I’ll accept the reality of me dating Seth MacFarlane, the brain behind my cartoon crush.
