As previously reported in this blog, the second season of Knots Landing is finally coming out on April 14, 2009, more than three years since the first season was released.  Here are some other 2009 releases that we’ve been waiting for for a long time.

• Howard the Duck (March 10): Often listed among the best bad movies of all time, it stars Lea Thompson alongside Marvel Comics’ cigar-chomping duck.
• Stairway to Heaven (January 6): This Michael Powell classic (also known as A Matter of Life and Death) was actually on the release schedule a few years ago before being pulled.  Now it’s coming out as a double feature with another Powell film, Age of Consent. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Stairway to Heaven so I’m excited for the release.
• Goodbye Mr. Chips (January 27): Peter O’Toole and Petula Clark in a 1969 musical!
• Far from the Madding Crowd (January 27): Another classic I’ve heard a lot about, starring Julie Christie in an adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s novel.
• Waterloo Bridge (January 27): With Vivien Leigh.
• Mr Belvedere (March 17): Need we say more?
